Uses
Mangoes are and amazing fruit! They can be peeled and eaten fresh, put into fresh fruit salsas, juices, smoothies, ice cream, marinades, sauces, pies, scones etc! Mangoes are great sources of vitamin A, C & E, fiber and iron. They can help regulate insulin levels in the blood, and can be mashed and mixed with honey and/or sugar for a great face or body scrub!
Care
Once Mangoes are established, the trees can do with out regular irrigation, and work well with the dry/rainy seasons in Florida. They will be severely damaged by temperatures under 28deg. They can be grown in sheltered areas and covered below 35deg successfully. They flower in February and March, fruit will ripen between May and September, but usually in June and July. Mangos enjoy full sun and well draining soil, and should be watered everyday for a month when first establishing.
